WP-DBManager: this plugin is probably the most lifesaver from all of them. It has a function for scheduled automatic back-up of your database and many other useful functions including emailing the back-up to your address.
WP-Ban: this wordpress plugin provides you with a nice administration panel where you can ban different ip ranges or single ip-s. When the banned ip-s access the blog it will display a custom ban message.
