This is the first issue with my hosting account from Hostgator since i signed up with them 3 weeks ago. What happened ? well this morning when i got up, i tried to login to my Electronics blog, and i had a big surprise seeing the directory structure of my /public_html/ folder. I submitted a support ticket real quick, and i got my answer <strike>fast</strike> , oh wait, it toked them 40 freaking minutes to answer:

You have not loaded the proper files for your domain to the public_html directory. All files for the primary domain name youritronics.com, must be placed in the public_html directory. Please move your content from youritronics directory to the public_html directory.

Lol, but i asked you to change my root directory for the main domain name to /public_html/youritronics/ when i signed up for this account, and everything worked fine until this morning. (Now i understand what the problem is, something happened with their server, maybe they restored a backup or i don’t know, but the file containing the rule for my main domain name was obviously missing the rule now) So i replyed

LOL, i had my domain root change for youritronics to public_html/youritronics when i registered with this hosting account, now solve my problem please !!!!

and the operator solved my problem, replying with:

This has been fixed for your account. I have also ran the distiller to prevent this modification from being removed. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.

I dont know what “the distiller” is, but I guess my Electronics Blog was offline for about 3 hours and i hope this never happens again.

I will start by saying a few words about the problems i had with Servage then i will continue with the solving of the problems. I signed up with Servage about 4 months ago after reading some reviews on various forums/blogs. The first impression was very good, the support was excellent, they answered my question real quick and i had no problems with the hosting whatsoever. This happiness lasted for about 1 and a half maybe 2 months.

Then my problems started to appear, the FTP was responding really hard, the transfers were getting lost, then the website started to have increased loading times on some periods of the day. Don’t get me wrong the problems were not present everyday or on every website i had hosted with them, it was today a site with problems, tomorrow another one, and i guess this happened because of their clustered structure. Mostly the loading problems were cause by the DB`s.

Then after the loading problems, the injection of malicious code problem came, which could of been handled better by them. For example they could of admitted that their server got hacked, but no… they had to tell the users who reported the hack that the problem is caused by the scripts and the file permissions that the users host. Also when i asked if this problem happened to anyone else, they told me that this did not happened to other users, which is a big lie, proven by the fact that users who also got hacked commented on my articles and confirmed their accounts got hacked too.

After the hacking problem i was going to switch to another hosting company, but because i paid for a 6 month hosting pack i decided to wait, and see how things evolve. Maybe everything was going to be ok. But guess what ? i was wrong, Loading problems with my websites again. So finally i decided to switch hosting. I was thinking at hostgator for some time because a friend of mine already was using hosting from them and he told me he never had any problems.

I ordered the “baby” plan from them which features unlimited domains allowed. My account was activate in about 20 minutes. The Servage control panel was pretty straight-forward so when i switched to CpanelX from hostgator i had some trouble setting everything up. I will do some short tutorials on the things that i had trouble with so others can learn from my experience.

I hope i don’t have anymore hosting issues, and everything will run smooth. If any problem comes up, i will blog about it.

later edit: just when i tried to publish this article, loading problems again

later edit: i forget to tell you, i left this blog hosted here at Servage because i still have a month or two of hosting, and i would like to see how things evolve here, when my hosting plan will expire, i will also move this blog to hostgator.

third later edit: i think they’re trying to sabotage me ) i know this sound strange and so unlikely but how can you explain that my blog is so unavailable, now after i published this article ?

I WAS WRONG. DO NOT CHOSE SERVAGE FOR HOSTING OR YOU WILL REGRET THE CHOOSE

This is the phrase i looked on search engines for a couple of days before i choose’d my current webhosting. After reading dozens of articles and peoples reviews i decided to host with SERVAGE and i must say it was a good decision. They are probably the best hosting company on the market providing excellent support together with excellent services. Servage currently offers: 510 GB Web Space, 5010 GB Transfer, Unlimited FTP Accounts, 1000 MySQL Databases, PHP v 4.4.4 & 5.2.1, Shockwave & Flash, XML Support, EXIF Support, SSI Support, Private CGI-BIN, Zend Optimizer, Hotlink Protection, phpMyAdmin, ImageMagick Support, Ruby on Rails, Password Protected Directories, FTP Access, FTPS (Encrypted FTP), GD Support, Microsoft Frontpage Support, WAP Enabled, mod_rewrite Enabled, CGI/Perl, Python Support, ionCube Loader, CURL Enabled, Webbuilder Software Included, Netpbm Support, Wildcard Domains, Full .htaccess Support. Al these for just 6,95 EUR per month and bonus a free domain name included. Well you can see now why i choose’d Servage. The only thing that i was sceptical about was the Uptime, well im with Servage for over 4 month’s and i had no problems with them. And if i had issues with my websites they always kindly help me in solving them. Its great no question about it.

If you would like to get hosting from Servage you can use my coupon code and get 25 Gb extra of storage. My coupon code is CUST44248
